Madam, - We foreigners are very impressed.
Within 30 minutes of each other, we had a letter redirected by An Post and a telephone call from a garda in Carrick-on-Shannon.
The letter had been written by my not-so-young mother to her friend at a non-existent address. The envelope clearly shows evidence of at least two viable options having been tried, prior to returning the letter to its sender. Great service, An Post.
A purse, lost or mislaid in Carrick on Shannon, caused my mother to write to the Garda Síochána of that town.
Today, we received a phone call from a very pleasant garda whose question, "Did he put any money in it?", in response to the information that her son had bought her a new purse, made my mother's day.
Garda Síochána - that's a police service. - Yours, etc.,
