Sir, - May I express my disappointment and disgust at your decision to publish Camille Paglia's vile piece of writing (The Irish Times, September 6th).
Her description of Dodi Fayed as "a scumbag" and "a gigolo playboy" would seem out of place in the lowest of the gutter press. That The Irish Times chose to print such a piece on the day of Diana's funeral is crass and shameful in the extreme.
The last weeks of Diana's life would seem to have been her happiest. Whether Ms Paglia likes it or not the source of that happiness was Dodi Fayed. Should we not remember that fact and allow the dead to rest in peace ? - Yours, etc., EAMON BARRETT,
