Sir, – My old printer finally became obsolete, being incompatible with the latest version of the software in use on my computer, and after many years sterling service has been consigned to the recycling heap. I purchased a brand new printer, this time with Bluetooth capability, so that I may print documents from any of my devices, from the comfort of my armchair, should I so choose. This marvel of technology set me back a paltry €40.99, and much to my delight came with both colour and black ink cartridges.
Were I to replace the ink cartridges, they currently retail for €44.99. It would make more sense therefore, to simply dump a new printer every six months or so and buy a new one, thus saving myself €4. Perhaps the authors of successive reports on the rapidly deteriorating global ecosystem might care to take note. – Yours, etc,
FRANK WALSH,
Coolballow,
Wexford.
