Sir, – In his piece on”Redefining Boundaries” (Home News, August 7th), Michael O’Regan would appear to be “redefining” the humble percentage as well.
The two Donegal Sinn Féin TDs “cumulatively took 57.44 per cent of the vote (in the county) in the last general election”, he states in paragraph two.
In fact the two TDs took 23,540 first preference votes in the county, out of the 81,181 valid votes cast. And that is 29 per cent.
Considerably less, thankfully, from the view of a Donegal exile who opposes their policies at every opportunity. – Yours, etc,
