Reforming motor insurance industry

Sir, – I am baffled by the silence of many of our public representatives – so vocal in matters relating to Irish Water – whenever the deplorable state of the Irish motor insurance business is raised.

Recently, thousands of Irish motorists received renewal quotations from their insurers that will cost them many multiples of what metered water would. As 2016 progresses, thousands more will receive similar, outrageous demands.

Yet there are no plans for mass rallies, no personal abuse hurled at members of the government and no loud pickets outside the headquarters of these insurance companies.

Where are all those heroic TDs and would-be TDs – who were so anxious to deliver us from the clutches of Irish Water – now that we need them even more? – Yours, etc,
