A chara, – The 1916-1921 Club wishes to record its regret at the recent death of Brian Lenihan TD.

Brian was our honoured guest at the annual dinner of our club in 2005 and addressed our members on the occasion. Since then he has been an member of the club.

We feel grateful to him for the interest he took in our commemorations to honour and remember those who died for Irish freedom and all those who worked for its achievement. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dilis. – Is mise,

Madam, – In reference to all of the eulogies for Brian Lenihan, let’s not forget his legacy. It is as follows: he has left a once proud nation on its knees. The crony system of Irish politics allowed him to assume responsibilities for which he was not capable. The nation must now live with the consequences. – Yours, etc,

FRANK MONAGHAN,
