Sir, – Your obituary of the late Prof Louden Ryan rightly acknowledges his enormous contribution to Ireland's economic policy and planning (December 8th).
As well as writing several major reports for different governments, Prof Ryan guided a number of influential public bodies. He did pioneering work at the National Industrial Economic Council in the 1960s. Then in the 1970s and the 1980s he chaired the National Economic and Social Council, the National Prices Commission and the National Planning Board. – Yours, etc,
