Sir, - In a spirit of fair play, and in order to satisfy contradictory demands, may I suggest the following strategy in the war against terrorism?
Might the people of Afghanistan be bombed on alternate days - say Monday, Wednesday and Friday - while Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday could be put aside for humanitarian concerns such as feeding, housing, health care and reconstruction? The outstanding Sunday could then be used to exercise spiritual thanksgiving, and at the same time allow an opportunity for all of us to marvel at the rich and subtle tapestry of human existence. - Yours, etc.,
Arthur K. Maderson, Cappoquin, Co Waterford.
