Restricting space for cars in Dublin

Sir, – You report on plans to make driving in the city more difficult ("Dublin City Council chief seeks to 'aggressively restrict' space for cars", News, March 28th).

Does Dublin City Council chief executive Owen Keegan consider it realistic to ask people to cycle into the city centre from Blanchardstown, Malahide and Monkstown? He may be disappointed if he does. Perhaps his time would be better served in looking at improving public transport rather than trying to turn the capital city into something from a Flann O’Brien novel where the bicycle is the sole form of transport.– Yours, etc,
