Sir, – A local property tax (LPT) based on the footprint of a dwelling as measured by its square meterage would not only make it a fairer and more transparent tax but also a much greener one. It would immediately neutralise the current vagaries which result in a small two-bed or three-bed house in an urban area paying more in LPT than a large mansion in a rural setting. – Yours, etc,
