Madam, – Now that we are getting nearer to a decision on which of our valuable State assets to sell, surely the most obvious asset (which so far has escaped consideration) is Nama? Here we have apparently the largest property company in the world, with the unique record of having itself set the price which it paid for its property assets. We have also received many Government assurances that it will make a profit.
Its sale – if marketed worldwide to the wider Irish Diaspora – would give everyone a chance of acquiring a stake in a wide span of Irish and other properties. Another advantage from the taxpayer’s point of view is that if we could persuade an international company to take it over we could relax about cosy deals being done with our many developers.
This sale could solve many of our national debt problems in one fell swoop, and be a huge confidence boost to our recovery strategy. – Yours, etc,
