Sir, - It is hotly contested whether schools, run by religious bodies or by parents (the primary educators of the children) should discriminate in selection of staff on the basis of religion. What are the rights of a teacher who is of a different persuasion or who comes to hold different views?
Take a similar non religious example. If an influential Labour Party official (eg an information officer) decides publicly to declare" allegiance to the Progressive Democrats - promising to fulfill his duties to his employers conscientiously and as diligently as before, only being a political democrat in his spare time. Would a request for his resignation be justified? - Yours, etc.,
