Sean Gallagher’s all-Ireland ambition

Sir, – Sean Gallagher would, if elected president, support efforts to achieve a united Ireland. Perhaps he would like to follow this up with a detailed account of how an already overburdened, overtaxed squeezed middle would pay for his pipe-dream?

On last count, the British exchequer’s subvention stood at an annual rate of about £11 billion.

Perhaps he has high hopes for the accelerated growth of his many business interests. Whatever the dream, he should keep an ear out for the alarm clock. – Yours, etc,
