Sir, – Further to Proinnsias Breathnach's letter on signage at Connolly Station in Dublin (Letters, March 4th), notices on the Dart carriages themselves are frequently highly contradictory.
I recently arrived at Connolly looking for a Dart to Bray. The one waiting said Maynooth on the side of the carriage. A fellow passenger got on and, as the internal notice board confirmed this direction, he got off. We were both more than put out when the same train beeped and headed merrily southward on its way to Bray.
Reverse signs and contradictory announcements occur frequently on the Dart. While I know we are heading to Bray, the sign and commentary often inform me that I am going to Howth.
It’s the tourists I feel sorry for. – Yours, etc,
RONNIE SIMPSON
Bray,
Co Wicklow.
