Madam, - As I approach my local roundabout each evening of late on my way home, I am confronted on the left of the carriageway by a huge billboard. It depicts a woman's bare torso in the shape of a glass of beer, with a brand logo above her navel.

A white bra or top she is wearing suggests the froth of beer at the top of a glass.

Am I the only one to find this kind of thing highly objectionable? First, it angers me that advertisers are prepared to reduce the female body to the level of a glass of beer. Second, it is irresponsible of them to link alcohol to sex in such a blatant manner.

Third, the placing of this and similar type ads as posters all along our roads at bus-stops etc. regularly turns our outdoor environment into a pornographic display.

The advertising industry is relentlessly undermining standards of public decency, and getting away with it.

I urge all who share my feelings to use the means available and write to the Advertising Standards Authority of Ireland, or fill in the complaint form available on their website (www.asai.ie). - Yours, etc.,
