Sir, – Why do fruit distributors feel the need to place stickers on individual pieces of fruit these days? It seems that even buying prepacked fruit, be it apples or pears, you are risking a mouthful of sticker unless you are prepared to remember this annoyance and peel off each sticker every time. How irritating can eating fruit get?
Frankly, I could not care less who distributed or picked what apples, oranges or avocados, provided it was done in a non-exploitative, ethical and old-style Moore Street trader fashion and the fruit tasted good and was priced reasonably. I do not even recall the details of any stickers.
Besides the utter waste, just how granular does corporate branding need to get before consumer patience runs out? Are we going to see individually branded peas soon? How about stickers on spuds? – Yours, etc,
ULTAN Ó BROIN,
