Sir, - With reference to Cearul Page's letter (September 22nd) about RTE and subtitling, we are currently working on a number of projects which will enhance and increase our subtitling service.
These include a major capital investment in a new subtitling transmission system.
We have experienced some difficulties in the provision of subtitling on certain live programmes for the month of September. We very much regret this development and are working with the supplier to RTE to explore all options. The company informs us that this is a seasonal problem, due in no small part to the hiring of key staff for the Olympic Games in Australia.
