Sir, - Rev Thomas Flynn, Irish Chaplain, New York Aisling Irish Center (April 30th), drew attention to the risks for young people in travelling to New York for summer work without adequate preparation. We concur with his views.

It is vital that students planning to go to the United States have a legitimate work visa organised and that they bring sufficient resources ($1,000 at the very least) to cover living costs while waiting for work. Information on work visas and employment is available at our office.
