Madam, - I was pleased to see the signs around Dublin advising the use of daytime lights on cars. It's a cheap and effective way to improve road safety. But perhaps we should get the proper use of lights at night sorted out first.
Many drivers still use parking lights while driving. Worse still is the misuse of fog lights, which seem to be the season's fashion accessory. Why are these people not told that they are illegal?
By all means introduce daytime running lights, but let's get the night-time situation fixed first. - Yours, etc.,
M. A. MACNAMARA, Castleconnell, Limerick.
