Sir, – Brian O’Driscoll’s recent comments have left me in a state of confusion (“Brian O’Driscoll admits ‘resentment’ over being dropped by Warren Gatland for Lions’ third Test”, Sport, September 4th).
I thought rugby was a team game and that Warren Gatland’s job was to simply deliver a test series victory for the Lions. Was Brian O’Driscoll not aware of the treatment that can be dished out by New Zealanders during a previous Lions tour? I was led to believe playing rugby in school prepared one for the rigours and disappointments of life. Did the “Rock” get knocked? – Yours, etc,
