Sir, - The Business and Finance pages are not normally the first I turn to on opening my Irish Times, but Wednesday, September 26th, was an exception. The headline "Wall St's Survivors turn to each other for support" caught my eye on the front page and I turned to Conor O'Clery's article immediately.

For me, Mr O'Clery put a human face on the terrible losses of the September 11th atrocities in this particular world of high finance.

In particular, it was deeply impressive to read accounts of how rival firms were making moves to put behind past bitterness and find ways to help each other cope with the unimaginable human trauma and huge financial unease caused directly and indirectly by this act of terror.

The enormous sadness is that it took such an horrendous act to bring about so many of these positive experiences.
