Sir, - Professor Lewis and Dr. Reville (March 25th and 17th.) might both benefit from reading the late Sir Karl Popper's The Logic of Scientific Discovery. As I understand him, a "scientific" discipline is one that, by its nature, allows for the construction of experiments intended to falsify its current supporting theories.

Advance comes from the success of such experiments, since a new theory must be postulated to encompass the variant data flowing from its results. Any discipline which does not allow of such rigorous testing is a pseudo science. - Yours, etc,
