Sir, - The Irish Times reports that over 2,000 submissions were received by the Working Group on Abortion. On May 12th your newspaper gave front page coverage to that from the Adelaide Hospital calling for the provision of abortion in Ireland. This is coupled with reference to the IFPA submission, also advocatingabortion here. Surely it is not a deliberate policy by your newspaper to promote abortion in our country? Not alone did you give this issue front page headlines but you also had another article, mostly repetitive, on another page. There has been no breakdown that I am aware of on how many submissions were in favour and how many were against but it seems strange that you give such publicity to those advocating abortion. Some time ago you gave prominent coverage to a small group in America (Catholics for a Free Choice), again coupled with similar views from the Irish Family Planning Association.Would it be too much to hope that your newspaper would now disengage and give balanced coverage to this subject? - Yours, etc., Mary Stewart (Mrs.),Ardeskin,Donegal Town
