MARY DAVIES,
Madam, - The photograph of a disconsolate Bertie standing in flood waters featured on your Saturday front page is delightful but unconvincing. He appears to be hovering on the surface with ne'er a ripple in sight around where his trousers should be. A picture not what it seems perhaps? - Yours, etc.

Madam, - What possessed you to publish that ridiculous picture of An Taoiseach, knee-deep in flood waters, on your front page on Saturday? Did you not question the cynical political motives behind the obvious staging of this photograph?
Do you really expect me to believe An Taoiseach spent all night (in his best attire) wading through the floods rescuing people? This photo - and your publication of it - is an insult to those who have suffered real and great distress as a result of the flooding.
Shame on you, shame on An Taoiseach. - Yours, etc.,

Madam, - Well might Bertie be looking so glum, up to his knees in the Dublin flood . A few short months ago he'd have been walking on the stuff. Yours, etc.,
