Madam, - It would take some time to respond to all the incredible suggestions made by Susan Philips in her article on incineration (Opinion & Analysis, December 1st). She fails to mention the concerns of medical experts and scientists worldwide and suggests that everything is all right because the Environmental Protection Agency says it is.
The EPA's treatment of the health issue has been cavalier to say the least. It has done nothing to alleviate the legitimate concerns of the community around Cork Harbour. Ms Philips also suggests that the Irish pharmaceutical industry currently needs to export most of its waste for treatment abroad. This is absolute poppycock and such uninformed inaccuracies have no place in the pages of a newspaper of the standing of The Irish Times. - Yours, etc,
BRENDAN RICHARDSON, Cobh, Co Cork.
