Sir, – I read the article "Sixty years since Border railways ran out of steam" (September 25th) with a sense of what might have been had the train service continued in Donegal. It was a sad day for Bundoran and this area when the last train left Bundoran station on September 30th, 1957, bringing with it a means for tourists to visit and enjoy the offerings of our seaside town. This weekend we host an event to commemorate the departure of the last train with exhibitions, dramas, talks, hedge school and displays, which all are welcome to attend. – Yours, etc,
