Madam, - Conor Keelan (April 24th) makes the common mistake of referring to this country as the Republic of Ireland. Article 4 of the Constitution is clear; "The name of the State is Éire, or, in the English language Ireland".
Our postage stamps and coins are imprinted with "Eire", as are our passports issued by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ireland. Even the leader of the Republican party, Fianna Fáil, is just Taoiseach na hÉireann, not, much as he might wish it, Taoiseach Poblacta na hÉireann. - Yours, etc.,
ADRIAN CARROLL, Clonmel, Co Tipperary.
