Sir, - I agree wholeheartedly with Paul Andrews's opening remark (August 31st) about the way our National Anthem is sung, or rather not sung, at Croke Park.
However, his view that singing about the "bearna baoghail", etc. is outdated and belongs to the last century amazes me. Perhaps he should ask his French friend whether he thinks that the Marseillaise is outdated also. - Is mise,
