A chara, - I endorse with enthusiasm John Lacken's proposal (June 10th) of a reunion of Fine Gael and Fianna Fail after their long estrangement. I am in a unique position to broker such a reunion as I have just discovered that I am probably the only surviving soldier who fought in the Civil War (I was a Republican).
Such a reunion would give us an Irish Government strong enough to negotiate a final peace with the British and to work out terms with unionists. Is mise,
