Sir, – I see from your article on the collapse of the tree in the Trinity College grounds that, in the case of trees, it's still acceptable to use the word death ("Stress likely cause of TCD tree death", News, June 9th).
I had been expecting you to tell us that the tree had passed away. – Yours, etc,
