Madam, - As a first-year university student I was disappointed on Monday last to discover that the Gaiety Theatre does not have a student rate in place.
My friend and I, having expectantly enquired for the price of the cheapest available tickets for The Playboy of the Western World, were told that we could purchase two tickets with "an obstructed view" at €15 each.
We went on to the cinema where we received a student rate of €6.
I worry for the future of theatre in Ireland in the light of this policy. - Yours, etc.,
