Madam, - My mother has subscribed until recently to Time magazine despite my protests.
I continually told her her subscription could have been better spent on charitable donations or on The Irish Times. Last Monday morning she finally admitted defeat when it was announced on radio that George W. Bush had been named as Time's man of the year for the second time.
If the editor of Time Magazine should contact me, informing me that this award was given to the US President as a sarcastic joke, I shall gladly retract my statement that Time magazine is a waste of money. - Yours, etc.,
