Sir, – I note that there is a controversy about how much compensation should be paid to the victims of the mica scandal.
It is claimed that €350,000 is not adequate in a large percentage of cases. I wonder what value has been assigned for the same houses for the purpose of the Local Property Tax?
Surely the valuation of a house for the LPT would provide a fair basis for compensation. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – Would a reasonable basis for house valuations not be that submitted by the house owners to Revenue for property tax calculation, in, say 2018, plus inflation since.
This could be backed up by VAT receipts from the various contractors to the householders. – Yours, etc,
