A chara, – An interesting but incomplete article ("Vatican ban on same-sex blessings, deeply disappointing says LGBT Ireland", March 17th) doesn't mention the content of the Vatican's statement, which goes to great lengths to insist on respect for homosexuals.
The statement is clear, coherent and compassionate but the chief executive of LGBT Ireland finds it “deeply disappointing”. She proceeds to instruct a religion on what should be included in its faith, sacraments and liturgy.
This is incompatible with an organisation professing to be secular, and paradoxical for one lecturing us on diversity.
