Madam, - I read the interview with TK Whitaker (Life Features, May 30th, 2006) with great interest. I don't believe it is widely known that the seeds of the Celtic Tiger were indeed sown in the 1950s through radical economic policies that transformed this country from one looking in on itself to one that could embrace change and progress.
Our recent wealth and affluence was brought about by visionaries, by people who wanted to curb emigration and make a better life for all Irish people in the future. Let us hope that the policy-makers of today can be as brave and visionary in what they put in place for future generations. - Yours, etc,
DEBORAH BRANNELLY, Forster Drive, Lucan, Co Dublin.
