Sir, – For some considerable time energy providers have been telling us that the implementation of any price reductions is delayed as they buy their products a considerable time in advance.
This is the reason that recently, despite the worldwide fall in oil prices, there has been no comparable fall in energy prices to the consumer
However, in recent days I see that the price of vehicle fuels has risen despite the fact there has been no rise in world oil prices
Surely this contradicts what we have been told and we should be experiencing further reductions in fuel and other energy (and even expect more falls in price) if the advance-buying argument on the part of suppliers is valid.
Or maybe there is another reason? – Yours, etc, ERNEST F CROSSEN Chapelizod, Dublin 20.
