Madam, - Having followed with interest recent correspondence on wind energy , I would like to mention my trip back to northern Denmark, after many years' absence. This is an area made famous by painters at the end of the 19th century.

Sadly, the scenic beauty of the region has now been destroyed by the presence of wind turbine towers.

I cannot understand the unabated enthusiasm of Irish officials to develop this power source in this country. Quite apart from the technical disadvantages recently outlined by other correspondents, let us not forget how wind farms ruin the attractiveness of the coastline, not to mention the green countryside, of Wexford and elsewhere, making a mockery of those who say they are for "green power".
