Sir, – I greatly enjoyed the articles by Brian Boyd and Donald Clarke (March 28th) on the subjects of grammar and the "Americanisation" of Irish English. However, in the same edition I was discombobulated to find the word "acknowledgement" spelled both with and without the middle "e" on successive pages of book reviews.
Perhaps your readers may assist in providing clarification before Donald Clarke succumbs to an attack of orthographic apoplexy. – Yours, etc, DR AISLING DENIHAN Castleknock, Dublin 15.
