Eoin O Broin

Eoin Ó Broin (52), from Cabinteely, Dublin, is Sinn Féin’s housing spokesman since 2016.

He was educated at Blackrock College, Dublin, the University of East London and Queen’s University, Belfast.

He was the national organiser of Ógra Sinn Féin between 1995 and 1997 and elected to Belfast City Council in 2001, stepping down in 2004. He was an unsuccessful election candidate in Dún Laoghaire in the 2007 general election.

He ran in Dublin Mid-West in the 2011 general election, but was beaten to the last seat by Derek Keating of Fine Gael.

In 2013, he was co-opted onto South Dublin County Council and topped the poll in Dublin Mid-West in the 2016 general election. He topped the poll again in 2020 and in 2024.

He is the author of several books. He lives in Clondalkin with his partner, Sinn Féin MEP Lynn Boylan.
