James Browne

James Browne is 49 years old and was born in Enniscorthy, Co Wexford where he still lives today. He did his masters in University College Cork and completed his studies as a barrister in the Kings Inn.

He was first elected to the Dáil in the 2016 general election as a representative of Wexford.

He was then re-elected in the 2020 general election, and appointed Minister of State with the Department of Justice with responsibility for International Law, Law Reform and Youth Justice.

He has served as the Fianna Fáil spokesperson on Mental Health, leading initiatives to reform mental health services in Ireland, including the Mental Health (Amendment) Act 2018 and served on the Oireachtas Committee on the Future of Mental Healthcare.

He also was part of the setting up of the new Women’s Refuge in Wexford.

His father was John Browne, was a long-standing Fianna Fail TD from Enniscorthy.
