The newly elected Independent Dublin Bay North TD Barry Heneghan (26) is one of the so-called “locked out” generation, back living at home with his parents because of rent and house prices.
A graduate of DCU he studied mechanical engineering and has a masters in sustainable energy systems. As a social media enthusiast he ran a very strategic campaign on a number of platforms. He is keenly interested in mental health and disability issues.
He is also fluent in Irish and has worked for TG4 promoting the Ianguage. He has worked as a barman in The Sheds pub in Clontarf. He also represents the area on Dublin City Council to which he was elected in June and has been involved in clean-up campaigns in the locality. He is keenly interested in mental health and disability issues. He and his family have been involved in the election campaigns of former Independent and minister of state Finian McGrath.
