Sinn Féin TD Sorca Clarke (45) is from Artane, Dublin, but moved to Mullingar with her husband, Darran Caulfield, during the boom in order to improve their quality of life. She is the mother of four children.
Having previously qualified as an accountant, she also ran a Midlands-based security business with her husband.
In the 2020 General Election Clarke was one of the beneficiaries of the Sinn Féin surge topping the poll in Longford-Westmeath. This was all the more remarkable considering that she lost her Westmeath County Council seat the previous year when she received slightly more than 500 votes.
The Mullingar based representative is Sinn Féin’s spokesperson on education and is a member of the Committee for Sovereign Matters of the British-Irish Parliamentary Assembly.
During the term of the last Dáil Clarke was a member of the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence.
