Michael Malone and Laura Enright aren’t precious about their family home in Curracloe, Co. Wexford. “We have two kids,” Laura says, “Clodagh, who’s three and Michael, who’s two. “Plus, we have Ralph,” Michael chimes in, “He’s our nine-year-old black terrier, and he sheds like no man’s business.”
The couple had made peace with living with food crumbs and dog hair - until they got their hands on their new Bosch Unlimited 7 vacuum. “Laura has gotten more use out of it than me,” Michael admits, “But honestly, we’ve been blown away. I don’t think our carpets have been this clean since they were laid.”
Laura and Michael weren’t searching for a new and improved vacuum, but when an opportunity to trial the new Bosch Unlimited 7 came up, they thought it could be a fun experiment. “We plugged it in, charged it and were immediately really impressed,” Laura shares. “I used it all over the house, and it was like giving the entire space a deep clean. The suction is so strong.”
The Bosch Unlimited 7 cordless vacuum cleaner has been built to suit busy households like the Enright-Malones. With three power modes to choose from, an ergonomic design that makes cleaning those hard-to-reach corners easy, and dust pickup on hard floors measured at more than 99.9 per cent, this vacuum is impressing even the most hectic of homeowners. “The carpets are fluffier and nicer to walk on,” Michael says, “We didn’t realise how ineffective our last machine was. The initial deep clean was so effective that, at the end of the day, we just top up with a quick vacuum if there’s a Rice Krispie spill.”

One of the most significant advantages for the couple has been the charging and battery system. Its power-for-all battery is part of one of a large cross-brand battery systems and is compatible with many 18V power tools and gardening devices from Bosch and other brands. If the battery runs out while vacuuming, users can simply replace it with a battery from a compatible tool or device. “It also comes with two batteries, which is so handy. We’ve mounted it to the wall to charge directly while sitting there,” Mike explains.
Laura says she hasn’t swapped out the batteries mid-vacuum yet. “I have found a 30-minute charge will give you about 80 per cent full battery, which is more than enough for me to clean up after the kids.”
As mentioned, Ralph, the terrier, has a penchant for moulting. “If cloning your pet becomes viable, his hair will be available,” Michael laughs. “You accept pet hair being absolutely everywhere because it’s so hard to remove. In most vacuums, it just gets stuck in the suction and is so frustrating,” Laura says.
“Ralph’s hair has been completely removed. The sheer amount of hair it sucks up in one quick clean is astounding. Seeing the carpets and furniture as clean as when we first got them again has been an unexpected treat.” Owners of long-haired pets could also consider the pro-animal Unlimited 7 model for it has a brush designed to remove coat hair easily and is similarly priced.
The kids love chasing the light around while we clean. It has been a lot of fun. ‘I mean, we never expected the kids to enjoy vacuuming, but it’s a bonus”
When it comes to adaptability and versatility, Laura is all about convenience. The Unlimited 7 range comes with a foot release nozzle, that detaches easily from the tube and can be replaced with other attachments – including the furniture brush and upholstery attachment, handy for behind the sofa and a long flexible crevice application for effective cleaning in hard-to-reach places.
“I’ve been using it all over the house, but also in the car because it’s so lightweight. It works like the handheld vacuums of old, but they did not really work. In contrast this appliance is light, but the suction is powerful.”
The kitchen and bedrooms are the main areas Laura has been focused on - “essentially anywhere the kids eat” - but that extends to grubbier areas too.
“We have a not-so-strict no-shoes policy in the conservatory, so as you can imagine, it gets covered in muck and dirt,” Laura laughs. “Being able to give the conservatory a quick clean after they come in is such a joy.”
Laura and Michael could not have anticipated their kids’ obsession with one feature in particular. “One of the clever design elements is that the vacuum has a light at the front, which allows you to see exactly where you’re cleaning,” Michael says. “The kids love chasing the light around while we clean. It has been a lot of fun,” Laura laughs, ‘I mean, we never expected the kids to enjoy vacuuming, but it’s a bonus.”
For Michael and Laura, using the vacuum has helped them regain their home just a little. “With kids and a dog, you have to accept things will be messy,” Laura concludes, “But seeing our home this clean again is something we didn’t realise we were missing out on.” “I never thought I’d be waxing lyrical about a vacuum cleaner,” Michael laughs, “But here we are.”
