Emerging talent: Garr Cleary

Singer-songwriter, Garr Cleary, features in campaign video for Guinness Amplify

North Dublin singer-songwriter, Garr Cleary, has been selected as one of 6 music acts to share the story of his music career to date, in the form of an artist video journey. Shot in a Dublin recording studio and Collanmore Island, off the coast of Westport, Co Mayo, the video diary documents how Garr’s love of the sea brought him to live in Mayo to concentrate on his song-writing.

Kilbarrack raised singer-songwriter, Garr, writes his own songs based on true life events and has performed at popular Irish music festivals Castlepooza and Knockanstockan. Speaking about the campaign video, Garr said: ‘I loved filming the video; it’s a great way for people to see how passionate I am about my music and Guinness Amplify is a great platform for me to showcase what I can do’.

After releasing his Debut EP in November, 2012, a 15 day tour of some of New York’s finest musical venues including the Rockwood Music Hall, north-sider Cleary is literally starting to make waves on the Irish music circuit. This original singer-songwriter can’t be boxed into one particular genre: his music is raw to the soul; real, yet modestly honest. His unique voice and lyrics hold you in awe, but then his unusual guitar playing – he plays a right-handed guitar, strung right-handed upside down – has been known to turn a few heads.

Guinness Amplify is a new, exciting music programme that was launched earlier this summer to turn up the volume for emerging musicians in Ireland by supporting them as they unlock their full potential. Guinness Amplify Live will see 500 free gigs take place across 5 weeks in September and October.
