BRAY ENDED Drogheda’s six-match unbeaten record at United Park last night – but only after surviving a second-half onslaught from Alan Mathews’ men.

A Bray corner kick in the 12th minute wasn’t cleared and when the ball was swept back into the box Ian Ryan and Paul Skinner got their wires crossed and full back Ryan headed past his goalkeeper.

And, 10 minutes later, Gary McCabe seized on a loose ball, some 30 yards from goal, and sent a stunning left-foot shot home.

Drogheda were back in business on 39 minutes after James Chambers’ free-kick was handled by Paddy Kavanagh in the defensive wall and referee Damien Hancock pointed to the spot.

Shane Barrett scored his third goal in four games, giving the Drogs hope for the second half.

However, despite going close on several occasions, home side didn’t score again and the Dublin side held out for a crucial victory.
