Nicky English Dundrum House, 13th hole 534 yard, par five."It's always a very difficult hole and comes at the end of what you would call Amen Corner in Dundrum."It's a very narrow landing area for the drive and when standing on the tee box, all you can really see is the trees that line the fairway on both sides. It creates the illusion of a very narrow fairway.
"I suppose that my preference generally is to hit a four or five iron off the tee to try and guarantee hitting the fairway: the usual outcome of going with the driver or three wood for me would be to end up in the trees. Also by playing an iron you take the bunker on the right out of play.
"The onus on the golfer for the second shot is to lay up short of the river and depending on the prevailing wind this can leave anything up to a five iron for your third shot into a green that is only 28 yards from front to back.
"In general the hole favours the brave but penalises heavily any wayward shots.
"It's a super hole that demands mentally as well as physically from the golfer and all three shots to make the green place a premium on accuracy."
