It was an all-Castle final in the Gilbeys Captains' Invitation Mixed matchplay at Rathfarnham last Friday when the 2000 captains Declan Lernihan and Eileen Doyle proved too strong for the 1999 pair of Jim Bradley, the 2000 vice-president, and Miriam Brien, winning 5 and 4. In the semifinals Lernihan and Doyle beat Malahide's Michael Byrne and Carmel Lynch, who had knocked out the holders Brendan Lynch and Geraldine Kilmurray of Elm Park earlier in the competition. Bradley and Brien were 5 and 4 winners over another Elm Park pair, Brian Andrews and Dorothy McCarthy, in the other semi-final.
