Tie holes were the order of the day when the Leinster qualifying rounds of the Barton Shield were completed over the weekend. Former Irish champion Eddie Power holed from 25 feet on the first tie hole to give Kilkenny victory over the hosts Waterford in the semi-finals before they went on to beat Blainroe by three holes and qualified to meet Woodbrook in the Leinster play-offs at Royal Dublin on the 30th and 31st July.

Sutton were involved in two tie-hole matches at Malahide before qualifying to meet Co Louth, the winners from Greenore. Sutton had to go to the 19th to beat Milltown and to the 21st to see off old rivals The Island.

The draw for the play-offs is: Sutton v Co Louth; Woodbrook v Kilkenny; Grange v Mullingar winners; Delgany v Elm Park.
