One of the longest running events in the country, the County Galway Trophy was completed at Ballinasloe last week. First played in 1927, the same year that the Ryder Cup started, this year's competition had an entry of 10 clubs. The format is a team of 10 with the best seven scores to count.

Noel Murray of Athenry was one of only two players to beat the SSS of 70 with a 67 as Athenry amassed a score of 492 to beat Galway (501) and Curraghwest (504). Greg Kennedy did his best for Curraghwest with a nett 68 while the shot of the day went to Paddy Kelly from Portumna who holed out his tee shot at the 170 metre, par three 17th.
