Bohemians hit Bray for four

Bray Wanderers... 0 Bohemians..

Bray Wanderers ... 0 Bohemians ... 4: Holders Bohemians booked their place in the last four of the Carlsberg FAI cup with a rousing 4-0 quarter-final replay victory over Bray Wanderers at a packed Carlisle Grounds last night.

Stephen Kenny's side led through Dave Morrison's 14th minute strike and then half-time substitute Gary O'Neill ended Bray's cup bid with a second half double, scoring after 56 and 75 minutes, before Glen Crowe rounded it off in the 77th minute.

Buoyed up by the massive home support Pat Devlin's Bray side made a great start, enjoying the best of the early play in both halves.

But once the holders weathered the early pressure and got their noses in front, they took complete control. The same happened again after the interval - Bray having a lively start with a couple of scoring chances, but then Bohemians scoring to silence the home support.

Morrison had Bohemians ahead against the run of play as he finished off a fine move involving Simon Webb and Crowe. However, the home side had their chances, most notably through Paul Keegan and Stephen Fox, while defender Colin Hawkins had to make a vital goal-line clearance just as it looked like Keegan would convert a Barry O'Connor knock-back into the danger area.

Once ahead Bohemians grew in stature and they doubled their lead with a cracking goal on 56 minutes. Following a great ball from Avery John, which split the Bray defence, Crowe crossed for O'Neill to tap home. Bray's Jason Byrne, Colm Tresson and Mick Doohan had great chances to put the home side back in contention, but it was Bohemians who delivered the killer blow with two goals in as many minutes. O'Neill made it 3-0 scoring at the second time of asking, having been put through by Crowe, before the Eirecom Player of the Year had his efforts rewarded in the 77th minute as he drilled home a 20-yard free.
